Bailey the Bear wakes up one morning extremely worried about when God sleep. He figures that since he needs sleep and everybody he knows needs sleep, God must need sleep too. Seeing his worried frown, his mother asks him what the matter was.

The rest of the story evolves as he explains different situations that could happen to him if God was sleeping. But his wise mother counters his reasonings by reminding Bailey the Bear about God’s loving nature. She also reminds Bailey that God never sleeps.

This is an excellent book that can be used to answer the questions children may have about God. Sometimes, it might be hard for them to grasp the concept of a powerful being up above. But this story makes God seem more real and close by. The rhyming patterns in the story will keep children interested as they listen to it.

The message of the story could have been enhanced by adding a verse at the end of the book, stating that God never sleeps. This way the children will be able to directly connect the story to other biblical concepts. Otherwise, this is a great book!

Armchair Interviews says: Nice story to help children understand God in their lives.
