After seven hundred years of life, Marguerite Argeneau has finally started a new career. She’s training to be a private investigator, and her first assignment is to find an immortal’s mother. It seemed simple enough, until Marguerite wakes up one evening to find herself at the wrong end of a sword. Now she realizes she’s in way over her head.

After that terrifying moment, Julius Notte, her client’s father, shows up to protect Marguerite. What she doesn’t realize is that Julius is her lifemate, and he’s determined to woo her. It’s been over five hundred years since Julius has courted a woman, but he’s going to give it his best shot!

Little does Marguerite realize that she’s met Julius before! She just has no memory of their meeting or anything else that happened with him. All Marguerite knows is that she’s named every dog she’s had “Julius.” That has to mean something, right?

The plot thickens when Marguerite is being chased and attacked in numerous different ways and no one knows why. The only reason that comes to anyone’s mind is that someone doesn’t want her to find out who her client, Christian’s birth mother is. While Marguerite is fighting off attackers, her sons and nephews are searching for her. Julius and her partner, Tiny, have her so well hidden not many people can find her, which really makes you wonder how her attackers do!

This was one of the best of the Argeneau series! I always wanted to know if the matchmaker found her match and now I don’t have to wonder anymore! I just hope the series doesn’t end as this is by far THE best vampire series I’ve ever read. It kept me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who was attacking and who Christian’s mother is. The tension between Julius and Marguerite, along with the past that one of them doesn’t remember, keeps you on your toes and hoping everything works out for them in the end.

I don’t want to say anymore or I’ll end up giving away the ending.

Armchair Interviews says: If you love paranormal romances, you definitely need to pick this one up!
