Despite their yearly refusal, Dr. David Payne continues to invite his five closest college friends to join him on his annual mission trip. The invitation temporarily peaks their interest with longings to rekindle college relationships but burdened by personal failures and encumbered by life expectations, the invitation rarely reaches their heart.
Right before David leaves to help build a school on an island in the south Pacific, he is killed in a traffic accident. The friends are reunited at his funeral, ignited by possibilities they commit to this 'once in a life time experience' in David's memory. Full of anticipation and adventure, the friends expect this to be a life-changing experience, but they couldn't have imagined how their life choices affected their eternity.
It's hard to come to grips with the idea that some day we will be asked to account for our sinful actions and thoughts. Most of us prefer not to think about it or trivialize it with our own ideas of how God will judge our choices.
Armchair Interviews says: Angela Hunt has so truthfully and artfully written about eternal consequences in a way that restores and regenerates the believer.
