Andrea Kane delivers a champion read with this book that is a combination of the television program, “Without a Trace,” and FBI intricacies that you’d see in a Hannibal Lecter film.
Sloane Burbank, an ex-FBI agent, is a private consultant hired to search for Penny Truman, an old grade school friend gone missing. Burbank isn’t happy when she finds out she has to interface with her old lover, FBI Special Agent Derek Parker, in order to get details for her case.
Things are not what they seem as we read the journal entries of a serial kidnapper, juxtaposed with Burbank realizing that Truman is tied to other women missing during the past year. Then another kidnapping occurs with the same MO as the others: women abducted on a university’s grounds. NYPD gets involved and Parker is brought in to oversee the Truman case as his top priority, instead of pursuing his work with the Asian Criminal Enterprise Task Force, where Asian prostitutes are being brutally murdered.
As the rope of suspense tightens around the storyline, it comes to light that Sloane Burbank is the main target for the serial kidnapper. And the serial kidnapper is also brutally raping and murdering the Asian women. Parker is only too happy to resume their passionate affair under the guise of being her bodyguard. Things are steamy and sexy with our two main protagonists. Toss in some Kav Maga, used by the Israeli Armed Forces, also known as street fighting; mythology; an unknown sociopath hovering at the edges; intricate plot turns; and Twisted takes you into a whole new world.
A simple title for a complex book that keeps you pinned to your seat until you finish it.
