Ty Buchanan is a young, talented lawyer whose star is quickly rising at his Los Angeles law firm. It’s probably not long before he makes partner. But all that was before his fiancée, Jacqueline died.

Jacqueline was simply driving on the freeway when a man killed himself and fell onto her moving car, killing her. Everyone writes the event off as an accident. But a stranger (Ratso) confronts Buchanan with a story that indicates Jacqueline may have been alive following the accident and then killed by someone.

The idea that someone murdered the love of his life drives Buchanan crazy and he becomes obsessed with finding the answers to Jacqueline’s death. His obsession interferes with his work and the repressed memory lawsuit against a well-known doctor that is pending. Somehow he must solve Jacqueline’s death and get to the bottom of the sexual abuse, repressed memory issue. There are people, however, that don’t want Buchanan to find the answers to anything. They might even kill to keep the truth from unfolding. What ‘they’ didn’t count on is that Buchanan doesn’t care. He just might be willing to kill for answers.

Try Dying is enjoyable. I thought that Buchanan was a little ‘over the top’ at times and really got beat up far more than was necessary but it was a minor distraction. My favorite character was Sister Mary Veritas and I’d love to see her with her own story.

Armchair Interviews says: Try Dying is a fast-paced thriller that will keep you turning the pages.
