Too Many Kitties, Jeff Clineff’s debut book, is a soft cover easy reader written in rhyme. It is illustrated with chalk drawings by Marina Movshina.
Too Many Kitties describes in detail, a day in a young boy’s life with three playful kittens that have very different personalities. Young readers will enjoy the activities and antics of the young boy and his kitties. At the end of the book there is a page of ”˜Picture Seek & Find’ where children and parents can search through the book for the answers to the questions. I liked this part of the book as it gave the children and parents one more opportunity to interact while reading.
Clineff’s book is fun and will appeal to young children who seem to naturally gravitate to animals. The illustrations, while lovely, are not particularly bright and colorful and didn’t grab my grandchildren’s attention. The children were more involved with the story itself and lost interest in the illustrations.
Armchair Interviews says: A story with children and animals are a great combination. Too Many Kitties is an entertaining read.
