The Knowing, a historical fantasy by Larriane Wills, offers all a reader could possibly wish for in a fantasy tale: prophecies and lies, kings and princesses, evil priests and helpful witches, battles and grudges, friendship and loyalty, hope and love.

This story follows Garran, a mysterious fallen hero, as he fights to save the people of Sheritan, the land he governs, from invading forces. In the midst of Garran's plans, Princess Fayahstella of Ives seeks refuge from the dreaded Caslock, a conqueror looking to use her to gain the throne of Ives. With fleeing villagers, a cold and seemingly uncaring governor, a princess desperate to be free, and warriors nearing, The Knowing is destined to be an exciting and adventurous read.

Through every crafted scene, Wills demonstrates the painstaking time she took to build this world. The reader is introduced to complex political relationships between nations, rules and regulations of the court, and backstory that holds the attention. The structured weaving of plot lines, numerous characters, and changing emotion, demand attention and never leave me wishing to skip a moment.

Wills has created a world not much different than ours: one that holds fear, hate, hope and love. The last, love, gives you something to look forward to in this dark world. The idea of finding love allows you hope, building a relationship with the characters as they follow hopes of their own.
