What happens when the unthinkable occurs to an ordinary couple?
Imagine being at work, landscaping some of the nicer neighborhoods on the outer skirts of the town you live in, and receiving a phone call saying that your wife had been kidnapped. You are given 68 hours to come up with the ransom, and the kidnappers know a great deal more about your situation than even your own family knows. How do you go about raising a ransom without including the police in the scheme?
In Dean Koontz's The Husband, Mitch finds himself on the very edge of surrealism. Every step he takes towards gaining his wife's freedom leads him to a block or discovery of things he never knew.
Mitchell Rafferty finds himself questioning his morality as well as mortality as he gets deeper in the kidnappers' minds. He finds that when it comes to love he can only follow his heart and do what he has to do to get his wife back.
