Aargh! You’ll be hard-pressed to find better pirate novel than this inspirational and historical fiction!
Lady Isabel Ashton lost everything after being ravished by a fierce pirate, then finding herself pregnant, unwed and alone. Her parents have shunned her, and with an illegitimate child, she has no chance at claiming a place in proper society. And yet–she can’t give up her son, Frederick, who claimed her heart the moment he was born.
Isabel is surviving by the sheer force of her will when her son is taken from her. Although she attempts to catch the kidnappers, her baby is stolen and she is left with no hope of finding him.
Until Captain Kent Carlton, the pirate who took everything from her in one fateful night, returns to her life.
Kent realized his love for Lady Isabel at the moment he allowed her to be rescued from his ship. He’s been searching for her and is stunned when he finds out he has a son. He only wants to make things right for Lady Isabel. But his enemies have the upper hand as long as they have his son.
Will Kent find his true worth in God, or lose everything–including the woman he loves and the son he’s never known?
Is it the Father’s voice that tells Lady Isabel to trust the dashing Captain Kent, or her own attraction for him? Can she ever give up her grudge against the handsome pirate?
I could not put The Restitution down! Tyndall creates a beautifully crafted tale that draws you into the past so that you can almost feel boat rocking beneath you. With careful research that shows in its accuracy, Tyndall makes the setting come alive.
And, oh! The angst! Both main characters desperately want something that is out of their reach, and their struggles jump off the page thanks to Tyndall’s wonderful use of dialogue–both internal and external. You’ll fall in love with her rogue pirate captain, just like I did.
Armchair Interviews says: A highly recommended, fantastic read.
