The most unique thing about The Open Bible is the 300-page Biblical Cyclopedic Index. Rather than a topical index based on terms found in the Bible, it provides an index based on biblical terms, plus every-day issues that believers face. This tool alone would be enough to justify adding this Bible to your study library. For example, the word “abortion” is not found in the Bible, but the index lists at least six passages of scripture that deal with the subject.

It contains over 4500 study notes that help increase the readers understanding of the Bible, key themes, personalities, and biblical times. Two other unique features are Read-Along References and Read-Along Translations. The letter “R” at the end of a verse alerts you that what follows are references that are similar to or expand upon the verses at hand. Likewise the letter “T” at the end of a verse means that alternate translations follow to help clarify the meaning of a passage of scripture.

The Christian’s Guide to the New Life has thirty-two outlines that cover the major themes of the Bible. The study notes for the outline are conveniently at the bottom of the page containing the passages. Following these outlines through the Bible provides you with a comprehensive study of systematic theology.

A must have for the serious student’s study library.
