As a Christian and a book reviewer I’m all for making the uncompromised Word of God easy to read and accessible for any age group, especially children.
The Most Important Story Ever Told: Children’s New Testament is not a small child’s picture book, but targeted more for those ages already able to read. It does use well-illustrated, storybook-like characters to highlight passages. There are also several easy-to-read prompts to help with memorizing the Word of God and for explaining the plan of salvation. A dictionary at the back of the book expounds on certain words flagged in the text.
The first forty-nine pages cover certain foundational scriptures of the Old Testament, like Creation, Noah and the ark, Abraham, Moses and the plagues, and more.
Again, this is not a typical children’s storybook version made up of all pictures and little Word, but a Holy Bible of quotable scripture with illustrations sprinkled throughout to help visualize what is being read.
A colorful map separates the Old from the New Testament, which illustrates Jesus’ travels along with companion scriptures.
The beginning of each chapter has colorful blurbs of information that cover a Key Verse, Did You Know, and Facts pertaining to the author of the chapter and more.
If you are looking for a New Living Translation of the Bible for your children, then this hardback version would make a good choice.
Armchair Interviews agrees.
