I confess I’m an avid reader of romantic suspense who’s usually not that hard to please. Give me a credible story, good characterization with reasonable motivation, and I’ll gladly go along with just about any plotline, no matter how unlikely. Unfortunately, throughout The Kidnapping of Kenzie Thorn, I found several areas which challenged even my generous limits of believability.
For example, the hero, an experienced FBI agent, ignores his orders and puts the high profile heroine into harm’s way. He takes her with him on his investigation to find the people who want her dead, just because she demands it.
Then there were the deep puncture wounds on the hero’s thigh, which were serious enough to render him unconscious off and on for three days, but allowed him to squat in hiding without moving for hours and outrun a police cruiser on foot with no ill effects.
Needless to say, I found more irregularities than these, but you get the idea.
However, the author did provide a surprising twist at the end.
