For Abby, her Irish family is central in her life. She knows what a broken family feels and looks like, as the oldest daughter of divorced parents. As a teen, Abby becomes the head of the household along with her father’s mother, Grams. Her home, which is close to the beautiful Chesapeake Bay, remains intact even after her mother literally walks out of their lives. Abby’s lived her life with a successful absentee father who has traveled extensively so she takes up the reins in her parents’ absence and focuses on “being there” for her brothers and sisters.
Fast forward to Abby’s successful and fast -aced Manhattan career and you also discover her in the role of a single working mother of twins. She has a good relationship with the twin’s father and she’d like to keep it that way for their sake.
All of her focus is on her girls and her career until she receives a frantic phone call from her sister Jess, who still lives in Chesapeake Shores.
The phone call not only creates the need for Abby to return to her roots, but places an enormous responsibility on her shoulders for the success of Jess’s dream and goal. Her journey to Chesapeake Shores is compelling. While she is there to help her sister, she also juggles her career in Manhattan, an ex-husband who is possessive about his daughters, and a very handsome and unforgettable high school flame, Trace.
