Garrett Asplundh—respected San Diego cop, then respected Ethics Authority Investigator, bereaved father, estranged husband—is now dead. Who could get close enough to the streetwise investigator to put a bullet into him from short range as he sat in his car at the spot he and his wife loved to visit when they were just starting out? And what was he doing there?

These are the questions that San Diego police detective Robbie Brownlaw must answer. And Brownlaw has his own problems. His life was turned upside down three years earlier when he attempted to rescue a man from a burning hotel and instead was thrown from a third-floor window. Surviving the fall was a miracle—and now he sees things. People’s words appear as colors. By the color he can tell whether someone is lying. And there’s a lot of lying going on in this investigation.

Garrett collected videos of a dozen of San Diego’s most connected citizens in compromising situations. Now it’s up to Brownlaw to see if Garret’s killer is among them. Parker shows us the best of worst that can be found in America’s largest cities. People that care and who want to make a difference—and those for whom power and privilege mean a separate set of rules to live by, or so they think.

Fast-paced and with more twists than a roller coaster the reader will need to hang on as it’s a ride you’ll not soon forget! With the determination of a bulldog, Brownlaw will dig up the skeletons and complete the tasks that Asplundh had set for himself.

Armchair Interviews says: Brownlaw and Asplundh help restore one’s faith in man’s desire to do good—not evil.
