Review by Jennifer Johnson

Angie Fox has created an imaginative world of magic and the supernatural based in our own reality in her new book, The Accidental Demon Slayer.

The main character, Lizzie, is a highly organized, goody-two-shoes schoolteacher with an average, boring, and lonely life–who is incapable of using foul language. This life is disturbed when Lizzie turns 30 and the grandmother she’s never met shows up on her doorstep with a gift of magical inheritance. Before she knows it, Lizzie is thrust into a situation where she is fighting with demons; having conversations with her dog; using jars full of potions to protect herself; earning the acceptance of a geriatric motorcycle gang of witches; and falling in love with a handsome griffin who protects her. In a matter of minutes her whole life has been turned upside down.

This book is fun and easy to read. As Lizzie gets herself into and out of life-and-death situations, magical mishaps, and love affairs, you’ll find yourself laughing along or feeling the intensity of burning passion. It is a lighthearted book but has a serious side when it comes to finding out who you really are, earning respect, building lasting relationships with those we love, and it is also about forgiveness and strength.

All in all, The Accidental Demon Slayer is a well-written book, and it is a joy to read and watch Lizzie grow into herself as she struggles with her new life as the demon slayer.

Armchair Interviews says: A fun fantasy you’ll enjoy.
