Carmela LaVigna Coyle is the author of two of my all-time favorite children's books: Do Princesses Wear Hiking Boots? and Do Princesses Really Kiss Frogs? Her current release, Thank You, Aunt Tallulah! is a departure from her previous books but is an absolutely smashing story for children.
LaVigna Coyle wrote Thank You, Aunt Tallulah! in the hope that she would inspire children to write thank-you notes.
Thank You, Aunt Tallulah! is a story told through letters exchanged between a little girl at summer camp and her delightfully wacky aunt in Antarctica.
Bettina is at Camp Oogie-Waa-Waa and it's really hot! But the weather is forgotten as Aunt Tallulah's latest goody package arrives from Antarctica. What will it be? It's always an interesting surprise. Sometimes it's a long fluffy scarf, six-fingered gloves, toe socks or even a hat that Bettina thinks is a backpack.
LaVigna Coyle's talent is immense. Her books always touch a special place in a child's heart. And in adults also. Bruce MacPherson's illustrations are wonderful caricatures of the people that inhabit Bettina's world. Children will love them.
