Sunny Acres was sleeping peacefully in her bed when the next thing she knew she was in a beautiful meadow. A tall, dark stranger took her many places that night, including a glimpse of Hell. No joke--this was a real experience. The next thing she knew she was in Iraq in a bunker with three soldiers. They couldn't see her but she saw them. This was her first look but in no way her last look at a rip in the universe that allowed demons to come through.
The sexy man, Jakeh, is a messenger of God. He isn't an angel. He says he's human. He doesn't live on earth but he doesn't live in heaven either. That's all the clues she has to his identity but he is to help her with the job she is entrusted with. She is one quarter of the Shield of God.
Jakeh tells her in time she will meet the three soldiers and they will embark on a quest to find the demons coming through the rips.
I'm not sure that I'd call this Christian Fiction even in a modern sense. It reminded me of some science fiction/fantasy movies I had seen as a child with lots of evil demons and the good guys fighting them to the death. I could see it as a movie with all kinds of special effects.
What bothered me was the strong thread of sex between Jakeh and Sunny as well as strong sexual tension between Sunny and Stone, another part of the Shield of God. It just didn't seem appropriate in Christian Fiction. As a work of general fiction even, it's a bit over done for the story line.
