Slip and Fall is Nick Santora’s debut book featuring Robert Principe. Bobby is a lawyer with a firm that consists solely of himself and his secretary. After graduating from Columbia Law School, Robert thought he would be making tons of money but he is struggling to make ends mert.

Bobby is a moral and honest man who does not believe in breaking the law. But when his wife Janine surprises him with the news that she is pregnant, he needs to make some big money and fast if he’s going to be able to support his family.

Bobby contacts his mob-connected cousin Jackie for some help. The people in Jackie’s circle are collecting debts from people who owe them. If they cannot pay back their debt, they swim with the fishes. The plan is to have these people “slip and fall” at a construction site so they can sue and collect money. Then they will have the money to pay back Jackie and his people, and Bobby will get his lawyer fee from the payout.

The only problem is these people aren’t really hurt. They are filing false reports with the help of a crooked doctor. After the first case closes quickly and to a nice settlement, Bobby decides he wants out. But there is no quitting the mob.

When Bobby’s pregnant sister moves in, he is left with another person to care for. He just wants to do one more case to collect some more money. After too many similar cases are filed, the FBI starts snooping around. Will Bobby be able to get out before it’s too late? Will he lose his license to practice law and put his family in danger?

Slip and Fall is a fast-paced, exciting story with plenty of twists and turns to keep you entertained. I felt compassion for Bobby and the situation he had gotten himself into. The characters were typically mob-like and it added a light humor to the story.

Armchair Interviews says: Slip and Fall was slippery, dangerous, and could be a hot best seller this summer!
