Q and Tom are high-powered New York attorneys with the opulent life most of us dream of – or so they think. Along comes their first child, Samuel, and everything changes. Sleep levels plummet and stress levels sky rocket, and it is quickly apparent the family needs a break. They escape to the small-town beach home of a business associate. They meet a single mother and a small-town lawyer and both start to realize that the life they were living back in New York was not all it was cracked up to be–and dramatic changes were in their future.

Tied into the story are Q’s sisters. Alison is an apparently perfect mother who is an annoyingly endless source of advice. Jeanie is a lost soul who comes from London to help Q take care of Samuel. Both of them seem to simultaneously help and hinder the young family, adding tension and levity to the story and helping Q learn some important life lessons.

The story is told from several different perspectives, making the pace very quick and keeping your attention. It is a quick and easy read that is hard to put down. There are numerous laugh-out-loud moments as well as some cringe-worthy moments (you can almost hear the baby crying for twelve hours straight). Written in a way that will make you instantly bond with the characters, you can’t wait to see what happens next.

Sleepless Nights is a fun and illuminating read that will lead many a reader to evaluate whether they are truly living the life they always dreamed of.

An often-hilarious look at the work-life balance, Sleepless Night is a very enjoyable read that will hit a cord with every woman (and quite a few men as well).

Armchair Interviews says: A 5-star read all about life’s balancing act.
