Siren’s Feast by Nancy Mehagian reads like a luscious novel, full of tempting food, wild relationships and globe-trotting adventures. That she can pack so much living into a few short years is a real testament to the high living late ”˜60s and early ”˜70s, as well as to her enormous spirit.

From the opening of the memoir, Nancy is clearly a feisty girl bound for a life of pushing the limits. Born into a traditional Armenian family, she is expected to be a quiet and subservient girl. Of course, she is anything but. It is not until she flees to Europe that she is able to fully spread her wings and lead the life that calls to her. Copious sex, drugs and glorious foods fill her young adulthood and lead you on an alter-ego experience. Sitting at home in a comfy chair, you are able to indulge in torrid affairs, outrageous encounters, and travelling around the world on a whim and a prayer.

Nancy Mehagian takes us to the Middle East, Asia and Europe in search of life’s full experience. Her relationships are deep and create a tight-knit world of united souls. Her world feels so small and connected, as if she could go to any remote area and find someone she knows. Indeed, she does! To the ultimate delight of the reader, her free spiritedness carries her around the world from one adventure to the next. The delicious recipes interwoven into her story add layers of sensuality and permeate the pages with spice and scent.

Love story, spiritual journey, recipe guide, travel extravaganza–this memoir has it all. Traveling with Mehagian, you are free to give the dangerous life a try, with all its ups and downs. Once you enter her world, it is impossible to let go until the very end of the book, even then wondering what is happening in her current life. She thoroughly captivates and keeps you hungry for more.

Armchair Interviews says: Well-written, well-told story.
