Monty Parker and his wife Helen have a daughter, Zoe. Monty also has a lover on the side named Bev. Zoe is institutionalized for being “like crazy.” He and his wife go to have counseling sessions with Zoe. Monty does not like Zoe’s counselor and makes it well known. Monty believes that his mother never should of had him and that he should of never had any kids himself.

Monty is a lead detective on a serial murder case. He keeps going through the files again and again trying to figure out the killer and the connections. The more he gets into the case, his own past comes back to haunt him. He is having nightmares and hallucinations that have haunted him since his childhood, and right now they are coming at him full force.

Monty knows all the people who are hunted and killed by the serial killer. This all means one thing to him–either the killer is someone that he knows–or maybe he is the killer himself. Monty keeps going through the files until he gets all his answers. He needs to take into consideration the people he cares about like his wife, daughter, and lover.

Monty needs to fight off his past demons and find the killer. But can he keep himself together long enough? And does he have what it takes to do the job? Follow Monty through his journey of figuring out the mystery.

This book was really hard for me to get into. There is some profanity and a few spots that jump around, but it all came together at the end.

Armchair Interviews says: Monty has his hands full solving mysteries and dealing with his past.
