It is difficult to tell in this latest Rumple adventure whether the reign of terror refers to the fact that Hilda Rumpole, She Who Must be Obeyed, is writing her memoirs on a laptop and consorting with Justice "Mad Bull" Bullingham, or if it is the Timsons yet again.
Or maybe it is the Pakistani doctor who has been detained with no explanation, and no chance to see the charges against him. Rumpole of course defends the Magna Carta and the Bill of Rights and does his best behind-the-scenes machinations to get his client a trial with real evidence. Will he be able to expose to the court the facts as he suspects they truly are?
A typical Rumple adventure here, with real wit and sparkling dialogue and clever characters.
Armchair Interviews says: Definitely a light mystery not to be missed.
