Tim Dowley’s Roman Ship Model delves into the fascinating history of boats. Boats began as inflated skins that floated on water. As time progressed, people wanted more industrious instruments. And so the raft was invented as well as oars to row the boat. The book explains how the boat has evolved with the changing world governments of the Greeks and the Romans. Dowley explains in detail about the many features of the Roman ship. He ends his book on a Biblical note as he recounts the story of Paul and his shipwreck when he was on his way to Rome.
Roman Ship Model was one of the most unusual books I have every read in my life. It has got excellent information about boats and ships and has Biblical aspects entwined in it. But what makes this book extraordinary is the fact that on top of the information, it also provides the necessary punch-out pieces to make a Roman ship model. Hence, this book will be very popular with children, especially boys.
The only problem with the book is that there is a lot of writing. Hence, some children will find it difficult to get through it in one sitting.
Armchair Interviews says: This is a great book to get general knowledge.
