“Only the best bottom of all will fit on this potty,” says the note beside a little potty at the edge of a village in the jungle. Who will fit onto the potty? Will they know what to do with it if it does fit?

A host of animals give the potty a try. Elephant knows what to do with it, but his bottom is so big, his potty misses the bowl. Gorilla thinks the potty works best as a hat. Snake has a hard time getting the potty to hold still so he can use it. One by one the animals try, and one by one they fail. But when they return from their snack break, what do they find but the best bottom of all using the potty just as it was made to be used.

Animal-loving children will enjoy this silly little tale and all the animal bottoms trying so hard to do what children can easily accomplish (if only they would be willing to try!). The illustrations are rustic and charming and I love that the little boy isn’t your standard Caucasian child.

I can’t say we’ve had a ton of potty-training success due to this book, but my son does love to read it over and over again. It is a good one to read while sitting and waiting patiently (or not) for success on the potty.

Armchair Interviews agrees.
