Patricia Lewin's prologue is brief, tautly written and drop kicks the reader into the center of the action in her latest suspense novel, Out of Time. It simply compels the reader to continue turning the pages.
Dr. Erin Baker left the CIA but is compelled to return to the field because of an opportunity to save a man's life and to meet her estranged father, Emilio Diaz, whom she hasn't seen in years. The agency wants Erin to go undercover in Cuba. And with her Cuban connections, she is the perfect choice.
Erin travels to Cuba with the story that she is a teacher. It is there that she is to infiltrate a medical aid organization that may have a more sinister purpose. She meets with her father who works for that organization, Doctors for Life.
But Alec Donovan of the FBI has strong feelings for Eric and wants more than a friendship. He also disapproves of the job she has taken on.
Lewin's Out of Time is romantic suspense at its best. The characters are believable and fully developed and the action is exciting. If you haven't read, Out of Reach, you'll decidedly want to do so.
Armchair Interviews says: If you like a scintillating thriller, Out of Time is for you.
