I agree with pastor and author Max Lucado when he says that “this Study Bible is essential for any serious Bible student.” To begin with The New Living Translation (NLT) is a blend of word for word and thought for thought that remains faithful to the original texts and brings those texts to life in a clear and vivid manner. Reading passages aloud from the NLT is a delight.

Then you add in the study part of this Bible and it gets even better. The editors have built 22 different helps into and around the text. One of the most unique is the “Further Reading” recommendations, where the editors recommend additional readily available general market books to enable you to take your study deeper and wider.

The cross reference system is also unique because it connects passages with similar meanings rather than words – so the references are always applicable. And if the passages describe the same event or convey much the same meaning, a simple marking system makes that clear as well.

On a final note – since this is, after all, a study Bible – the more than 25,000 study notes pass the “so what” test. The study notes focus on the meaning and application of the scripture – not just facts. Historical and literary notes draw the reader into the world and time in which the various books of the Bible were written, giving us the context in which the various passages were originally read and heard.

When you buy this Study Bible you also get a free access code for the online version which includes additional resource materials such as an in-depth chronology, 483 articles, a reading plan, additional maps and visuals, etc.
