This is the ninth in a mystery series featuring Cassidy McCabe.
Cassidy McCabe is a therapist with a busy home-based practice. She has recently married her long-time love, Zach Moran, a crime reporter for the local newspaper. Everything should be perfect – but it is not.
Zach is dealing with a new editor that has a vendetta against him, and he is showing signs of a deepening depression. Last, but not least, Starshine, Cass’s calico cat, has been acting out of character, staying out all night, apparently sharing his affections with another family. Cassidy knows when it’s family or a cat involved, being a therapist does not always help.
Even with so much going on in her life, Cass does not hesitate responding to a hysterical phone call from their new tenant, Delia Schiff. Delia had recently rented Zach’s condo, and Cassidy made friends with her, sensing a loneliness in Delia that sometimes happens to one dealing with schizophrenia. Getting to the condo, Cass suspects Delia is not taking her medications as Delia talks of Dark Angels, white magic and a body hanging in a supply closet. Cass doesn’t find a body but she does find a small trace of blood. She calls the police just as Delia disappears.
Cassidy has a history of solving crimes and does not shy away from the opportunity to investigate mysterious happenings – especially murders. Becoming very single-minded when there is a murder to solve, Cassidy often puts herself in danger, enduring threats, beatings and being kidnapped. In this latest mystery, Cass answers the question: What does a professional killer do when they can no longer get rid of the bodies?
