Donald Bain is the author of over ninety books. And of course, Jessica Fletcher is the television personality, played by Angela Lansbury, in the Murder, She Wrote series. Madison Avenue Shoot is the 31st book in the popular mystery series.
Grady, Jessica Fletcher’s nephew, requested his aunt to visit him in New York City. Jessica is happy to oblige Grady and soon learns that the invitation was more than just the desire for a family “get together.”
Grady is an accountant, working for a company that creates television commercials. Their specialty is famous faces in their ads–and Jessica has been targeted as the “star” in one of the ads. She doesn’t want to do the ad, but eventually agrees–it’s a family thing.
When one of the executives (who is despised) is found murdered, Jessica’s job is to wade through the long list of possible murderers and solve the case. And solve it she does! I love the way her mind works.
For those fans of Angela Lansbury and Murder She Wrote, the novels are just about perfect. They have the flavor of the television series and are a nice romp into murder and mayhem.
Armchair Interviews says: A good read and perfect for those who yearn for the “old days.”
