Moving Windows Bible Stories is a fresh take on biblical stories for children. The book contains five beloved bible stories. Each story opens like a 3-D pop-up, and there is also a tab to pull that causes one or more of the characters to move.
The first story is that of Noah’s Ark. Before you is a three-dimensional ark. The front panel of the ark folds down to reveal all of the animals inside. Then the tab can be pulled, and you can watch the animals move.
The next story is that of David and the Giant Goliath. As you turn the page, you see a panoramic view of the boy with the slingshot next to the enormous giant. Now pull the tab to watch Goliath fall to the ground! Talk about getting a glimpse of the action!
When you turn the page again, the next story that you’ll encounter is Daniel and the Lions. The 3-D layering allows you to look down into the den where Daniel has been thrown. Pull the tab, and you’ll see the lions jump out and then recede again into the background.
The next turn of the page reveals Jonah and the Great Fish. You can see right into the fish’s mouth, and when you pull the tab, Jonah is spit out of its mouth. The final turn of the page reveals the story of Jesus’ birth. You can catch a 3-D view into the stable. When you pull the tab, Mary rocks baby Jesus while the donkey nods his head.
Each of these five stories has been illustrated in vivid color. Deep blues, purples, reds, and yellows will keep little children captivated. Two of the pull tabs, the ones for David and Goliath and Daniel and the Lions, create very exciting action. The other tabs create smaller actions that are less engaging.
The stories are brief and suited well for little children. Perhaps ages two to six would enjoy this book the most. However, even younger children will find the moving illustrations to be exciting.
Armchair Interviews says: A wonderful way to interest children in these stories.
