Hestia Myatt has dreamed of being a doctor forever, even though her family and friends discourage such nonsense. They think Hestia should marry and have babies. But when Hestia’s fiancé drops her for another woman, Hestia heads to Maiden, North Carolina to help care for her ailing aunt.

While in Maiden, Hestia becomes reacquainted with her childhood friend, Booth Barrington. Hestia is surprised when Booth has grown into a handsome young man. But Hestia is not so happy when her cousin, Selene, arrives from New York under mysterious circumstances. Selene is a modern flapper, and makes Hestia feel hopelessly old fashioned.

Will Hestia embrace the wild lifestyle of her cousin? Or will Hestia’s influence prompt Selene to give up her worldly ways?

Love Finds You in Maiden, North Carolina by Tamela Hancock Murray, reminds me strongly of Grace Livingstone Hill books which I grew up reading. I loved reading about the “roaring twenties” and some of the characters that might have lived back in those days. The author did a stellar job setting the scene, bringing the setting and the characters to life, and researching the era.

I did stop at some points in the book to research some points for myself, as I wasn’t aware some of the things mentioned in the book were available in the early ”˜20’s. But they were, so I learned something. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and highly recommend any of the Love Finds You In … books, but especially Love Finds You in Maiden, North Carolina.

Armchair Interviews says: A delightful 5-star read.
