In Laura Levine’s Seventh installment of the Jaine Austen series, Jaine has her work cut out for her!

When Jaine is contacted by an old schoolmate to write her vows, she accepts before she realizes what it entails. Jaine never liked the rich Patti Devane in high school, and it seems like nothing has changed, she’s still mean and rich. Patti will soon be waltzing down the aisle with another former classmate from Hermosa High, who she just happened to steal from yet another former classmate. When Jaine arrives at Patti’s to see exactly what she wants her to write, she finds out she’s signed on to rewrite Romeo and Juliet… except without the “downer” of an ending!

Even worse than the assignment itself is dealing with Patti as a client. At least Jaine isn’t alone in her sentiments. No one can stand the bride-to-be’s demanding, spoiled, and incredibly rude “bridezilla.” In the short time she’s been planning her wedding, Patti has racked up an amazingly long list of enemies, not limited to her soon-to-be mother-in-law, the soon-to-be-ex-wife of her soon-to-be-groom, one of her best friends who she booted from being a bridesmaid because she was a little chubby, and just about everyone she’s hired to help with the wedding. It isn’t exactly surprising when Juliet plunges to her death during the rehearsal of the balcony scene.
After further investigation, it is revealed that someone had loosened the bolts on the balcony, clearly an act of sabotage. Even though there are numerous suspects, Jaine is determined to find her killer—if only to end her embarrassing walk down memory lane.

Between fending off advances from the nerd of her nightmares and keeping her cat Prozac from corrupting the victim’s pet poodle, Jaine’s involvement in the case keeps you rolling.

I don’t know if I’ve ever laughed all the way through a book before like I did this one. In my opinion, this is the best Jaine Austen book yet! Considering the emails between her two wacky parents and Jaine, and the plain out silly things she does, you aren’t getting any sleep! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am looking forward to Jaine’s next zany adventure!

Armchair Interviews says: Exciting to know about such a fun and funny book.
