After Jamie has an excellent dream, all he can think of is making sure his mom can have the same great dream. As good as his day is going, it seems like he might find success. After all, it isn’t every day a boy gets French toast for breakfast and a gold star on his spelling test. If that isn’t enough, once he wishes on a puffball, he meets and rides a unicorn to Dreams r Us. Amazingly he not only finds his dream for sale, but the money he needs to buy the dream for his mom. What an amazing day. What an amazing dream.
Jamie’s Dream is a whimsical story of an imaginative young boy. He refuses to believe that there is anything he can’t do. This is just the type of story that a kid would like to live. I love the imagination it encourages in children. The illustrations sparkle and complement the text.
However, the story just doesn’t draw me, or my children. I don’t have a whole lot negative to say about Jamie’s Dream, except that we’ve had it out and available for over a week, but after the first reading, the kids didn’t ask for it or pick it up again. It just doesn’t have the appeal for our read-aloud loving crowd.
Armchair Interviews says: If you kids love to be read to, this might not be the book for you.
