In this book, Joe Dillard is back, but now on a different side. He did defend the guilty and get them off for the crimes they committed. After a client told Joe that he really did commit the crime that Joe just got him found not guilty, Joe decided to take a year off. He could not cope with getting the guilty off for their crimes.
Now Joe is back as a prosecutor for the state of Tennessee and after the bad guys. A whole family gets killed at a rest stop–a mom, dad, and two little kids. Now it is up to Joe to prosecute the killers to the fullest when they are found.
The murderers are goth teenagers–two boys and their leader is a girl named Natasha. The two boys get arrested and there is a lot of evidence to keep them locked up. The problem is there is no evidence to link Natasha. The boys will not rat on Natasha because they are scared of her because she has a lot of influence over them. So Joe goes after Natasha so she won’t kill again and get away with this crime.
Joe is having a rough time at home right now with some things with his wife that came up unexpectedly. While dealing with home issues, he risks everything to go after Natasha and bring her to justice, and all the while he is trying to keep “good faith.”
This is the second book by this author. He also wrote the book, Innocent Client._ I have not read his first book but definitely intend to because I loved the whole book. The author brought me right into the book in the first chapter and I could not put it down. I was on the edge of my seat with the suspense and mystery.
Armchair Interviews says: Second book for an author definitely worth watching. His first was raved about, so seek it out too.
