Jodi Hills–this woman tells wonderful stories with simple strokes of the paintbrush, complemented by just the right words.

In fewer than 450 words, Hills tells us a story every woman can relate to: I have nothing to wear. She explains how we connect pieces of clothing with events or people–both good and bad.

Clothing can change how a woman feels about herself that day–the perfect fit, the right color–all lend a hand to create a woman’s self-esteem.

The “heart on my sleeve” idea is about our courage to be ourselves today. We all have need to rid ourselves of extra “things” in our closet that we’ve outgrown or are out of style.

However, we also need the courage to rid ourselves of people we’ve outgrown. Get rid of that jacket an old boyfriend loved (maybe more than you). We need to get rid of “other clutter” that we hang onto. Get rid of clothing you wore during bad or sad times–things tied to memories that no longer have value or a positive place in our life.

Justifying, kidding ourselves, avoiding the realities–everything we have is so entangled with everything else–things we can’t let go of: “fear, worry, hurt, and stagnation.” Times change, people change, Hill reminds us, and it’s time for us to wear a wardrobe of hope and happiness and confidence.

Hills is an illustrator and writer who has a full line of greeting cards, magnets, jewelry, prints and originals.

No more “what if.” Wear your heart on your sleeve.

Armchair Interviews says: A wonderful gift book for any woman in your life as the message is sound and pure.
