Incredible! Absolutely life-changing as well as eye opening!

God’s Prayer Book by Ben Patterson is a book that I will savor for a very long time. This treasure trove of handpicked Psalms is an excellent guide in helping us to focus on our relationship with God. Whether we are struggling with temptation, work, death or depression, God’s word is an effervescent fountain of hope and joy that we can drink in and be refreshed.

I will note that God’s Prayer Book could possibly change your way of thinking, praising and praying to God. In fact, Patterson reminds readers that when we pray we join a host of saints whom together, pray with us before the throne of God. Patterson goes on to say that, “when we pray we enter into a scene that is something like the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day, times a billion: exuberant, majestic, noisy, the mother of all prayer meetings. “

I’ll admit when I read those words, it was new and challenging to my own thought process–I always thought I called on the Lord alone. But Patterson states that when we prayed, it’s because Jesus has called us to that very specific time, moment and season to join Him in praying. He calls us. What a comforting thought. That not only would God create us in His own image, He created a means to communicate with Him through prayer, by way of His word, the bible, and we never do it alone, called by Christ joined by the saints.

God’s Prayer Book is an extraordinary venue for us to use to draw closer to God via increasing our prayer life with Him. Each Psalm is translated using the New Living Translation and broken down into layman’s terms allowing the reader to fully understand what God wants us to know about Him, his character.

I highly recommend God’s Prayer Book by Ben Patterson to every Christian who wants to explore a deeper understanding of God’s word and how to apply the Psalms to your life.
