Fatal February, Barbara Levenson’s first novel, is a hit.

The story unfolds as lawyer Mary McGruder Katz finds herself as the defense counsel in the middle of a high-profile murder trial of a philandering husband. Her personal life is topsy-turvy as she leaves her current job, breaks her engagement, has a new boyfriend, and a new office and staff, all the while trying tries to figure out who is stalking her.

Top all of that excitement with lawsuits brought against the main character, Mary Katz, and you have a mystery on your hands. Follow along and try to figure out who the murderer is in this well-written book. There is no chance to be bored, and I could not put the book down until I finished it.

As a mystery lover, I was pleased that the story line flowed smoothly with no confusion. There was mild language and sexual innuendos that did not add nor distract from the story line. I really enjoyed the fact that the book did not end with the end of the trial. Since it was about a murder case, you might expect the book to stop with the ending of the trial, but this author superbly took us past the trial by wrapping up some details that make the story even more intriguing.

I loved the book and easily gives it 4 stars, and hope to read more from this author.

Armchair Interviews says: Fun read and well done mystery.
