Parker James is right in the middle of a concert when her cell phone rings. She tries to ignore it, not wanting to get the group worked up so that she will receive the accolades she feels she deserves. But when the words “There’s been a murder” flashes across her screen, she can’t let it go. Parker slips out of the concert.
Brenna, the girl who was killed, is a volunteer at the studio. She’d been hoping for a quiet place to study when she asked to sit at the receptionist desk. Parker is stunned, knowing that the killer might have been aiming for her…after all, it is Parker’s desk, Parker’s job that Brenna was doing when she died. When the reporters believe that Parker James is the victim, Parker isn’t quiet sure how to handle it.
Parker tries to stay out of the investigation, but just associating with those she works with brings suspicion. And when the danger intensifies and the bodies pile up, Parker can’t help but wonder – who is the killer really after? And why?
Double Minds is author Blackstock’s first standalone suspense novel in years. Set in the midst of Nashville’s Christian music scene, the story weaves a chilling roller coaster of events that will keep the pages turning.
Parker is a realistic character, struggling to get the praise she feels she deserves in a world that worships glitz and glamour. Yet she wants to remain true to the Lord she believes in.
Fans of the music world, as well as suspense fans, will want to read this newest novel. Double Minds lives up to Blackstock’s tag “Up All Night Fiction” because readers will not want to put it down.
Discussion questions, as well as an excerpt from her next novel, Intervention, (releasing in November 2009) are included in the back of the book.
