College student Rachel Lorant died on her birthday. She wasn't alone, as her four sorority sisters witnessed her death. They just didn't report it for fear of their parents, and fear for their futures.
Despite their swearing to secrecy, ten years later their secret returns to terrorize them. Each receives a birthday card marked Happy Birthday to me xoxoR. That's the way Rachel signed everything. Has Rachel been alive all these years with a growing hatred for the friends who didn't help her that night long ago? Or perhaps there was a witness other than themselves? All they know for sure is this is the first of deadly warnings making it clear that someone is out for blood--their blood as payment for their lost sorority sister.
Each having established her own happiness in very different ways, they resent this intrusion into their bliss. Unbeknownst to them, the police became involved after the first murder. Another unknown by them, there has been betrayal in the midst of them, along with deceptions and lies.. The vengeance and terror rise with each woman as their own birthdays are approaching and their fear escalates with each passing day.
Masterfully executed, with characters coming alive on the page, Wendy Corsi Staub has an uncanny sense of how to draw you into the story, and keep you coming back for more Loaded with plenty of surprises and twists, the story is fast-paced and full of deliciously wrought gore. You will find this to be one that is very hard to put down.
