Professional golfer, Cassie Burdette has qualified to play in the U.S. Women's Open. It's the most prestigious women's golf event in the world and she'd better be at the top of her game because the competition is tough.

But Cassie's first run at the Women's Open is fraught with problems that test her ability to focus and play at a level that can make her a champion. Cassie's friend, Laura is unable to caddie for her because her father is critically ill; she's received a controversial invitation to play in the PGA Buick Championship; her love life is a mess; her family defines dysfunctional; a young amateur golfer is poisoned right before the tournament; and frightening e-mails, a disturbing note and a terrifying snow globe identify her as a target for someone with murder on their mind.

If Cassie isn't careful, she could be headed for a breakdown, or worse, she could turn up dead. Cassie Burdette's first Women's Open could be her last.

Roberta Isleib's Final Fore is a fast-paced mystery that will keep you turning the pages. Her characters are quirky, complex and oh, so interesting. I enjoyed Cassie's frailties and her willingness to learn from her experiences.

While the mystery is fun and compelling, it is the attention to detail about the game of golf that makes Final Fore a real winner. And what's fascinating is you don't have to be a golfer or even enjoy the game to be drawn in and find yourself absorbed in the minutia of the life of a touring professional.

Armchair Interviews says: Final Fore is a fun read. Check out Isleib's other novels: Six Strokes Under, A Buried Lie, Putt to Death, and Fairway to Heaven. It's a long hot summer and Isleib's mysteries will keep you happily occupied.
