Mike Yeager is a special agent for the FBI but sometimes makes his own rules as he goes along. The bureau sends Mike to New Orleans to investigate a kidnapping and attempt to infiltrate the Barca family. Emelio Barca, head of the family, is suspected of being involved in the kidnapping of Simon Burke and his wife. It is a difficult decision for Mike. He has made plans with Special Agent Peggy Jean Weaver but if he accepts the assignment, he will be tossing aside his plans.

Mike learns that Simon Burke’s body has been found but his wife, Amrita Naryan Burke, is rumored to be alive and held by the Barca family, and that she will be sold but to whom and for what purpose Mike has yet to discover.

Mike has many ties to New Orleans. A previous case involved the Barca family and Mike fell in love with daughter Sofia Barca. Mike thought he had sent Sofia away to safety years ago but finds out that she is back in New Orleans. Emelio wants his daughter home and Mike agrees to bring Sofia to him. Mike is determined he will succeed this time around to not only bring Emelio to justice but save Sofia from further damage by her family.
As Mike gets deeper and deeper uncover he realizes that he no longer can trust his superiors. He must rely on his own judgment as he moves forward to uncover a deadly scheme. The destruction of the city of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina is vividly described throughout the pages of Broken Wing.

The story is very complicated with non-stop action. This is the third book in the Michael Yeager series but it is not necessary to have read the first two books to enjoy Broken Wing.

Armchair Interviews says: Exciting 5-star suspense/thriller.
