I remember my first Betty Crocker Cook Book. It was so much fun. I wanted nothing more than to open that book, go to the kitchen and cook up a storm. I did.
Now, Wiley has published the 1957 edition of Betty Crocker’s Cook Book for Boys and Girls. It’s nostalgia for women of my era and it will be a first great cookbook for young girls. My copy of this book will go to my granddaughter and she and I will work together in the kitchen, making the various recipes. She will begin her cooking career and I will be reliving the days of old, with my beloved Caroline.
Betty Crocker’s Cook Book for Boys and Girls includes over 245 recipes, with the nostalgic color photographs and delightful illustrations. There are kid favorites like Sloppy Joes, S’mores (my favorite), Sugar Cookies, Cinnamon Rolls and more.
Besides recipes there are helpful instructions for new cooks. There are cake-making tips, illustrations that will make icing the cake easier, directions to make various party bag masks, campfire instructions, help with setting the table and so much more.
Armchair Interviews says: Betty Crocker’s Cook Book for Boys and Girls is a must have for that new cook in your life, and it will be fun for the cook’s helper who probably owned the original.
