Meredith (Merry) Gentry, half-mortal and half-faerie princess, has left the faerie society to return to Los Angeles, accompanied by her bodyguards. The story begins with Merry in her lawyer’s office to discuss the charges against three of Merry’s loyal bodyguards. The charges have been brought by Merry’s Uncle Taranis, King of Light and Illusion. This is the first time that Taranis has gone outside to the humans for justice.
What starts off as a simple meeting, winds up with EMT and police and some of Merry’s men being rushed to the hospital. Taranis has finally shown his true colors and openly attacked. Even Taranis’ nobles are shocked by his outburst and attack, and it announced that it is the greatest scandal that the Seelie Court has had in this country.
Can Merry handle all of the problems that are being brought before her in this, the sixth book in the Meredith Gentry series? Her life is in danger even more so than in the past.
I did not read this series in order, although I would recommend that you do so. A Lick of Frost is entertaining, even if you did not start at the beginning of the series.
I never cease to be amazed at the imagination of Laurell K. Hamilton and the pictures she manages to implant in the mind of the reader.
Armchair Interviews says: A 5-star fantasy, well worth the read.
